Car PDI: new car pre-delivery inspection in Bangalore
A PDI, or pre-delivery inspection, is the check you run on a brand-new car before you sign the delivery note and the balance leaves your account. After that, every problem is a favour you ask the dealer for. Our inspector meets the car at the showroom or stockyard anywhere in Bengaluru, runs 300+ checks, and you get a written report the same day.

What every new-car PDI covers
The core checks apply to every new car, and each one has caught real problems at delivery:
- VIN, engine number and manufacturing month, so you are not sold last year’s stock as fresh
- Odometer sanity check: a new car should not arrive with suspicious kilometres
- Panel gaps, paint depth and glass stamps for transit or yard damage that was touched up
- Underbody and suspension for flatbed/driving damage on the way from the plant
- Battery health, fluid levels, tyre manufacturing dates matching the car’s age
- Every electrical: lights, infotainment, cameras, sensors, power windows, spare wheel & tools
What a PDI looks for that you cannot see
New cars travel hundreds of kilometres on trucks, wait in open yards through the monsoon and are touched up before handover. A walk-around in the showroom lights misses most of this:
- A panel scratched in transit and quietly resprayed in the yard: it looks perfect and reads thicker on a paint gauge
- Old stock sold as new, with a manufacturing month well before the invoice
- An odometer reading that does not fit a delivery car
- Accessories, tools or the spare wheel on the invoice but not in the car
- Fault codes stored in the engine computer with no warning lamp on the dash
When to book
As soon as the dealer allots your car, and before you sign. Book for the stockyard if the dealer allows it, or the showroom before registration. If we find something, you ask for a different car or a written fix before you take delivery, when you have the most leverage.

Frequently asked questions
What does PDI mean for a car?
Pre-delivery inspection: a full check of a new car before the buyer accepts delivery. It confirms the car is the one on your invoice, undamaged, complete and working, while you can still refuse it.
Is a PDI worth it on a brand-new car?
Yes. A new car is the one you can still reject. Transit repairs, old stock and missing parts are far easier to settle before you sign the delivery note than after.
Can I do my own PDI with a checklist?
Yes, and our free PDI checklist covers the eight checks anyone can do. What you cannot do by eye is read paint thickness, scan the engine for stored fault codes or date the glass and tyres. That is what an inspector adds.
Will the dealer allow an outside PDI?
Most do, and you have every right to inspect before you accept the car. We coordinate the slot with you and the dealer.
